‘Dump.’ Another body on top of the pile of them. That is how the boy was thrown at the end of the battle. Instead of waiting for his warmth slowly leaving the boy’s body, destiny had him fall to the bottom of the pile.
‘Splash.’ Not falling, almost like sliding on soldiers’ cold bodies, the boy had his head stuck on a small bloody pond on the ground. The boy did not even feel the pain any longer. No matter how much he struggled to move himself out of the death pile, all he could make was his dwindling breathe. The boy who wanted glory and a bright future was dying in the pit behind Noxian infirmary. His only left sensory, hearing, brought him the screeches of the ravens.
“Live.” Ravens approached for the feast, the boy’s body quickly cooled down. Amongst the screeches, there were voices, “Live.” It wasn’t a raven screech anymore, the hissing voices became clearer. “Live.” The hissing echoed inside the boy’s mind. All he had in his mind was “Live.”
...
“Are you playing dead?” A low but sharp toned voice woke the boy up. Raven flapping and lands on someone in front of the boy. The boy slightly lifted his head up to see who it was. The weather of Noxus Capital at this time of the year is usually cloudy, even the smallest sunlight did not help the boy to open eyes..
“I’m sure this is not an accident for me to find another victim.” There was no doubt, it was the grand, one-armed general. The new, demonic, ravenous general. The boy had no capacity to afford his grand general. The boy was hardly breathing.
“Stand. I know how to handle your kind.” The general coldly turned around, and several giant ravens swung by to take the boy’s body to the general.
…
‘Splash.’ The boy woke up with his wrists chained up to the wall. The general stood against the wide window to start questioning him. The room was not that bright nor dark. Only the dim sunlight was lighting the room, but not so much with the grand general’s face.
“What are you?” The grand general calmly asked the boy. Eon noticed the one-armed general somehow had his two arms, and his eyes were reaching further than what Eon had in this mind. The bleeding, the wound that penetrated Eon’s stomach in the battle field was clearly gone. Eon was not dying anymore.
“Thank you for saving my life.” That was the only explanation for the situation. Eon felt honored to be healed before the grand general. But he did not answer the grand general’s question.
“The Woman must be very mad to see her demons getting taken in front of her eyes. Or are you her failure like that metal lady?” The grand general tossed another question to Eon. The boy had no idea what he was asking. “Why am I being questioned?”
“Don’t you think it is suspicious to see another Noxian contracted with the demon?” Under the grand general’s glove, his left hand was glowing red. As he took off the glove, Eon could clearly see that it was not a human hand.
“Demon? Metal lady? The Woman? Sir, at least explain please!”
“Your acting is pitiful, the interrogation is over.” The grand general’s left arm glowed bright red, with his gesture, a dark ray pierced Eon’s chest. It was Eon’s second death.
…
“Live.” Eon woke up again with his wrists chained up to the wall. His wound on chest was gone again, but the bloody stain. In front, the general was making his tea.
“I see. So you weren’t playing dead. You did die once before. What did the demon say to you?” The grand general seemed a bit more relaxed than before. The general sat down on his desk and peacefully enjoyed his tea. Eon was still processing the general’s question.
“Have your answers ready till I finish my tea.” The grand general, Jericho Swain turned his chair to look outside through the large and only window of the room. Eon slowly started to comprehend what happened at the bloody pond. He soon understood he made a contract with a demon. As soon as he understood, Eon was terrified by the thought that the contract could make him suffer for eternity.
“What is going to happen to me? Will my soul suffer for eternity after death? I’ve never wanted this. A contract with a demon? I don’t even remember having it. I just wanted glory and the future. That’s why I enlisted, for glory and a bright future for me and Noxus! … And this is what I get in return? After that shameful defeat? This is so...ugly.” Eon cried in despair, and was breaking apart. Regardless, Jericho Swain was halfway to finish his tea. He was speechlessly looking outside.
“Sir… I am so sorry. I am no one, but a shame of Noxus. Please. Forgiveness!”
Swain’s tea only had its last sip. With his “Hmm.”, he tilted his cup towards his mouth.
“Is that your answer to my questions? Asking forgiveness?” Swain put down his empty tea cup, and turned his chair towards Eon. Swain slowly walked to the wall where Eon was chained up to.
